About the Artist

Toria Summerville is a professional circus performer from Ajax, Ontario. A gifted and multifaceted artist, she specializes in a number of disciplines including contortion, aerial silks, and partner acrobatics.

Also known as Flexy-T, Toria began her journey as an internationally-acclaimed and award-winning dancer, and has been treating audiences to memorable performances for most of her life.

At a young age, she had discovered she possessed rare natural flexibility beyond that of the average person (the source of her nickname) and when she found herself being drawn towards acrobatics and contortion, her ever-supportive family and coaches encouraged her to explore her full potential.  She began expanding her training regimen to include gymnastics and other circus skills with the aim of developing her contortion talents and overall strength.  Her team soon realized that her background in dance combined with her innate gifts and quickly emerging abilities could be applied in unique ways to many of the circus arts as well, including aerial apparatus and partner acrobatics.

Newly motivated, determined, and only 14 years old, Toria launched her professional circus career during the Toronto International Film Festival with a stand-out performance as the featured contortionist for the festival’s exclusive VIP event at the ROM. She knew immediately that she had found her passion.

Taking a leap of faith, she made the controversial decision to shift her career-focus from professional dance to the daring world of circus performance. The choice has proven to be a very good one, as she has since become a recognizable and highly-sought-after entertainer.  Combining her elite dance and storytelling sensibilities with spellbinding circus feats and displays of flexibility, she leaves a lasting impression with spectators.  Her career thus far has seen her performing across North America with a myriad of major talent companies (A2D2 Circus, La Rouge Entertainment, Hit & Run Dance Productions, Zero Gravity Circus, Illuminair Entertainment, among others). Her unique blend of artistry and versatility continues to dazzle luminaries and dignitaries alike, captivating audiences at high profile events such as the recent Archangel Summit, Prince Amyn Aga Khan’s prestigious Lapis ball at the Aga Khan Museum, Mayors Evening for the Arts, Revlon’s Runway Show for New Colour Line “Excel”,  MasterCard’s “Priceless Table” Event at the Sony Centre, Functions and tours for major companies such as BMO and Honda, Multiple events at Casa Loma (including the perennial favourite “Legends of Horror”), as well as many other distinguished awards shows and exclusive events on Toronto’s social, arts, and entertainment scenes.

In addition to her talent, Toria’s creative and commercial appeal is also undeniable, resulting in her work increasingly being seen in advertising (print ad-campaigns for the ADHD medication “Foquest”, Meridian Credit Union print campaign for “We’re Bending the rules on GICS”), and in representing leading circus and dance apparel company Fit 2 Fly Apparel as a model and brand-ambassador. She has also begun significant crossover into the realm of Film & Television with her most recent credits including contortion stunts in “American Gods – Season 3” [TV/Starz Network], “What We do in the Shadows – Season 2” [TV/FX Network], and the music video for Kandle Osborne’s indie-hit “Bender” [Sleepless Records].
